Hatching a queer kid
Cuckoos lay their eggs in other birds' nests. And like cuckoos, most queer kids grow up as a one-person minority in their own home.
No matter how loving and accepting their straight families are, queer people need their chosen family to help them navigate gender, sex, love and life in general. As a straight parent, all you can do is to educate yourself and connect with the queer community to help your child spread their wings and learn to fly.
(With that said, cuckoos also kick their foster siblings out of the nest as soon as they hatch. Well, well. There's no such thing as a perfect analogy.)
